Do You Need a Visa for Bali?

Before we dive into flight details, let’s first clarify whether there are any visa requirements for visiting Bali. Visa requirements for entering Bali, Indonesia, vary depending on your nationality. Here’s a general overview:

Citizens from the following countries can enter Indonesia without a visa for stays up to 30 days:

  • ASEAN Countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
  • Other Countries: Colombia, Hong Kong, Timor-Leste.

This visa exemption is strictly for tourism purposes, is non-extendable, and requires you to leave the country within 30 days. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

E-Visa on Arrival (e-VoA):

Indonesia offers an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) system for eligible travelers. Applying online before your trip can expedite the entry process upon arrival. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry and that you have a return or onward ticket.

Pre-Arranged Visa:

Nationals not eligible for visa-free entry or VoA must apply for a visa at an Indonesian embassy or consulate before traveling. Additionally, citizens from certain countries require special approval from Indonesian authorities prior to obtaining a visa.

  • A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
  • At least one blank visa page in your passport.
  • Proof of a return or onward flight.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay.

It’s essential to verify the latest visa requirements with the Indonesian embassy or consulate in your country before traveling, as regulations can change.

Important Visa Requirements

  • Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Passports with less than 6 months of validity will not be accepted.
  • Overstay Penalties: If you exceed your visa duration, a fine of 1 million IDR (~$66 USD) per day will be applied. Those who fail to pay this fine will not be allowed to leave the country.
